Modern yet timeless...

Our's is a common sense approach to design that realizes the uniqueness of each human environment within the whole. One’s vision of place becomes an innovative translation of form that is both timelessly elegant in its presence and effectively sustainable by its manifestation.

Eco Playhouse v.2.0

As the name suggest, this is the second version of the so-called Eco Playhouse idea.  The prototype, or Eco Playhouse version 1, built at our old home, still resides there in SE Portland. Clearly this one is a treehouse design, built atop a woodshed and around a 70+ year-old White Oak.  It is being built using 95% recycled content (free discarded materials and construction debris... all legally acquired). We're also trying out an attached 60 gallon sand-filtered rainwater harvesting system to collect water from its small roof for use at play or for localized irrigation.  There's also a small greenroof installation.
Like version one, the primary purpose of this structure is for play. But, it also serves as a laboratory and educational tool to teach our children and their friends about sustainable living and a 'green building' approach. So far, it has exceed all of our expectations.

Its' one of many things we can do at Gerber+Boes Collaborative.
