GBC proposes a brand new life for the old Blue Heron...

The Blue Heron paper mill of Oregon City closed this year, bringing an end to nearly 200 years of industrial operations on the east side of Willamette Falls and the beginning of a new chapter of First City’s Mill District. GBC's conceptual proposal introduces the possibility of an adaptive re-use conversion of the existing site and one of its most notablebuildings for mixed-use commercial and residential functions. The 6-story steel building at the entrance on Main could be converted into 10, 2-story artist loft condomiums with retail space at the ground floor for a cafe, restaurant or shop.
Unique challenges require innovative solutions. And that's what Gerber+Boes is all about.
